Thanks to the recent post by Freddy on Barbaropoli, I found this interesting documentary on the situation of increasing violence here in Ireland: Ireland Lawless.

Consider this an update as well as explained in the previous post on people in Dublin.

Needless to say that the images are quite strong, but definitely the kind of things that are commonly seen on the streets in the evenings Dubliners. A

Ireland Weekend in Venice

Two weekends ago to the delight of Martha, but my course, we spent a long weekend in Venice.

Allo stesso sportello abbiamo acquistato per 6 euro a persona il biglietto One way to Venice (suggested a return ticket with a discount on whether to resume the flight from Treviso) since the return we had booked directly with the real Aerlingus Venice airport (Marco Polo).

Besides that, we also request and purchase the single ticket to be able to circulate for 48 hours in any half in the city of Venice. There are different types of ticket value from the variable depending on how many hours you want to travel, what with 48 hours and costs about 26 € per person if I remember correctly. But to understand how important it is to purchase this type of ticket you have to think that just 60 minutes drive minimum denomination of tickets available, it takes 6 euro and around the lagoon is almost just be enough to make a trip.

the ticket in question in fact it validates the first time and then leave the hours that you purchased, for example, we have endorsed him Friday and Sunday at 17:30 at the same time has expired.

But back to the trip, the bus was late about 40 minutes to get to Piazzale Roma. From there, after having informed the bus to the Venice airport, we purchased in advance at 3 euro each return ticket. Our walk started from here to Venice, crossing the bridge we started to follow all the signs around town that indicate how to reach Rialto and the Piazza San Marco.

Along the walk we stopped at the restaurant "Ai Scalzi" for a bite, then proceed along the picturesque alleys colored by many mask shops and local sweets. After a long series of photos and several minutes of video footage with my new Sony video camera, we finally arrived in Piazza San Marco. The indescribable pleasure of having the beauty of Venice without the suffocation of the crowd of tourists at this time obviously there are not many around.

The first ticket for travel on the ferry we endorsed at 17:30 to reach the Lido of Venice, where the reservation was waiting for us four-star Hotel Panorama. Without the check-in we arrived at the room and relaxed a bit. We did not have the force of Martha and I go out except to go to dinner at a pizzeria just around the Panorama hotel around 21:00.

Saturday, January 30: The objective of the day was to visit Murano, so we took the invitation of the goalkeeper who had arranged a free taxi (eye when I talk about taxis in Venice on the water means that it must therefore boat) for up to 6 people to visit a glass factory in Murano, aware that the real purpose of the thing was trying to foist some product once on site.

Demonstration the factory was very interesting with two middle-aged sognori showed us how to make a glass jar and then blowing a horse. During the demonstration there was a guy who explained to us in English (even worse) the procedure, given that we were present: a pair consisting of one Canadian and one Mongolian, an Italian (I) and Spain (Marta), a Belgian and a French think.

The curtain began soon after when we met encircle by real sellers who showed us around, we took a look to the vessels from 3000 € and gold-plated services you have until revealed to our "guardian angel" of the situation (Luke) that I was Italian (I know) and who live in rent then I would have never bought anything that was not in everyday use.

Yet Luke had it put everything into English using an unthinkable that mixed Italian, English, Venetian and Portuguese (at one point we looked at Martha with air-shocked when he said something like "el no se gold puede trabajar cuando es hot ... "ok,) a pouring out anything. At the end we still made happy by buying a ring that he was pleased that Martha and all in all it cost us a fair price but not if we consider that if we traveled by taxi for free for half an hour, had a live presentation for few close friends and everything else.

Exit or rather fled from the factory horror (joke clear) that will carry the name as soon as possible as soon as you recruit, we took some pictures for Murano (the town is pretty bad if not anonymous) and then made Return to Piazza San Marco via boat to go to lunch.

lunch we finally made it to the restaurant as the Conca d'Oro, after the bad experience at the restaurant the day before the Scalzi.

In the afternoon we spent time favorite activity by Marta and women in general: shopping! So I'll spare you all to dinner when we decided to keep light us a healthy round of cuts and delicacies from Italian supermarket we bought and brought to room in the hotel.

Sunday, January 31: The snow has surprised us in the morning, Venice is then displayed in a white robe completely unexpected. The cold was even worse than here in Dublin that was even before the first tornado in Dublin said that I no longer looking so cool!

Despite the cold, snow and temperature prohibitive we decided on Sunday to face the longest journey on sea to reach Burano. The total trip is about an hour and twenty from San Marco. Burano is necessary to take two different boats, a boat before it leads to Punta Sabbioni and then from there get off and change to a ferry that takes you directly to Burano.

suffered saving the freezing cold while waiting to tell you Burano arrival 80 minutes after departure. The snow had thickened arrival on the island and unfortunately I had the opportunity to do a lot of photos of the place is very colorful and picturesque (much nicer than Murano honestly). The temperature close to zero, however, made it unlikely that an island tour with Martin we took advantage of a restaurant for shelter and ask for a table for two, it was the restaurant Il Gatto Nero

luck apart from the restaurant Il Gatto Nero gave us a very good lunch at a cost that would define medium-high for Italy, but satisfaction has exceeded the base money!

Considering the time it takes to get to and from Burano, after lunch there remained a long time before having to take the bus from the airport to Piazzale Roma in Venice (the real one). We then took the first boat (which I remember for the record runs every hour) and we traveled to San Marco, from there take the vaporetto to Piazzale Roma and from there the bus to Venice Marco Polo.

The return was quiet except with a rain delay that prevented the "defrost" the wings of the aircraft for safety had to be treated with a spray frost prior to takeoff.

Venice we liked a lot, lot more to me of my first visit in travel time when San Marco has more people than pigeons and when the roads are attacked by hordes of aliens. The landscape is ideal for a romantic weekend, but this is the discovery dell'HO2, a look at where you eat, it is not true that the premises are of poor quality, just use your brain when you choose even if I agree we also need a dose of luck.

Attention to visit the glass factories on this because as we try in every way to trim things, make sure you buy only if you really want. If you feel you do not handle the pressure just avoided the visit, as written before Burano (less popular) is much, much more beautiful than Murano (at least by me).

And finally I do not know at home, but I come from one with a name like that not only would I imagine a big hit, but would have serious difficulties to be believed or seen as "quality choice!

Dooblin Hotel Awards

After the last weekend in Venice, which I will write in detail in the coming days, we have compiled a chart with Marta to allocate rewards and demerits of the hotels visited and reviewed in this blog until now.

This ranking of the best and worst hotel (thank God we will see a few of the worst) we would like to present it again to a regular update on our recent experience of the votes.

The awards are broken down by category, as well as a general bonus given to the best overall, but first things first. The star will score the winner in each category: Best breakfast

:

- Sofitel (Brussel)
- Glen Guest House (Edinburgh) *

Unforgettable courtesy of the owner, a nice old man that aziano and heedless of the fact that it was a long time past the hour of breakfast, prepared fresh fresh for me and Marta a mouth-watering Scottish breakfast to the sound of eggs, toast, milk, cereals, coffee and tomatoes go in the pan!

Best Beds:

- Sofitel (Brussel)
- Hotel della Spina (Pisa) *
- Hotel Artemis (Rome) to review

Simply divine rest on a firm mattress is not enough to be of stone.

Best Room:

- Sofitel (Brussel)
- Hotel della Spina (Pisa)
- Hotel H10 (Lanzarote)

Migliore posizione:

- Hotel Artemis (Rome) to review
- Hotel Panorama (Venice) * for review

Located right in the docking of the ferries that ply between Venice Lido and San Marco Square, the hotel offers a strategic location Panorma , especially in summer due to the presence of the local beaches.

Customer Service:

- Hotel Artemis (Rome) to review
- Sofitel (Brussel)
- Glen Guest House (Edinburgh) *

What about if it is not customer focus the story above for breakfast!

most beautiful hotels:

- Sofitel (Brussel)
- H10 (Lanzarote) *

If we look at the park with pools and palm trees surrounding the H10 Lanzarote, I think there is really no comparison with other hotels we visited.

Best toilets

- Hotel della Spina (Pisa) *
- Sofitel (Brussel)
- Glen Guest House (Edinburgh)

The bath of 'pin the hotel really liked Martha, who I said he wants to get ideas for our future home! Well I think this sums up the beauty of the bathroom, very spacious with a huge shower tile and very beautiful when you set a huge mirror.

But let's go now to the inch lines.

Worst breakfast:

- Real Hotel (Florence) *
- Hotel Artemis (Rome) to review
- Hotel Panorama (Venice) to review

simply absent, not qualified, does not arrive, got a coffee on request and a packet of biscuits with jam served as breakfast for guests that unsatisfied!

Worst Beds:

- Hotel Real (Florence)
- Terminal Hotel (Milan) *
- Hotel Panorama (Venice) to review

I have not slept a wink, partly because of the frequent trains to each now, part for the pillow of stone.

room Worst:

- Hotel Real (Florence)
- Hotel Artemis (Rome) to review
- Hotel Panorma (Venice) * for review

I understand that the price paid was very low but still a 4 star should vital to ensure certain minimum space. What the hotel Panorama has done with us.

Worst Money:

- Hotel Real (Florence)
- Holiday Inn Disney (Paris)
- Hotel Artemis (Roma) * for review

for a superior room in a four-star hotel in the center I expected more considering the price paid for the lavish stay. Certainly a nasty surprise.

Worst position:

- Real Hotel (Florence) *
- Hotel della Spina (Pisa)
- Glen Guest House (Edinburgh)

A hotel on LateRooms is the city center but that in reality is located several kilometers from the city center to leave a bad taste in mouth moment, if this is also shown to be the worst hotel service ever experienced ... bhe.

Worst customer care:

- Real Hotel (Florence) *
- Hotel Panorama (Venice) to review

sure to read the review of the hotel and you'll understand.

Hotel più brutto:

- Hotel Real (Firenze) *
- Hotel Panorama (Venezia) da recensire

Peggiori servizi igienici:

- Hotel H10 (Lanzarote) *
- Holiday Inn Disney (Parigi)

Migliori hotel visitati:

1. Sofitel Europe (Brussels)
2. Glen Guest House (Edinburgh)
3. Hotel della Spina (Pisa)

Worst hotel visit:

1. Real Hotel (Florence)
2. Hotel Panorama (Venice)
3. Terminal Hotel (Milan)
